How it started
The Founding Story
In 2008, Jonny Elliott and Carl Stonehouse first crossed paths in college, forming a friendship built on ambition, shared values, and a passion for business. Over the years, their careers took them on different journeys, Jonny into the world of accounting and financial strategy, Carl into entrepreneurship, property investment, and hospitality.
By 2021, their paths converged again. Jonny had built a successful web design agency, helping businesses establish their online presence, while Carl was scaling a mobile bar business and managing his pub, The Old Packet House in Altrincham, Cheshire. Their collaboration reignited their friendship and Jonny built the website for Carl’s pub, and their conversations turned to the real challenges business owners face in managing their reputations.
Jonny, always passionate about entrepreneurship, building systems, and helping business owners implement reliable solutions, saw first-hand how his web design clients struggled with reviews – they needed a way to showcase trust, credibility, and social proof online. At the same time, Carl was leveraging positive reviews to increase footfall and build loyalty at his pub. They realised a critical gap: small and medium-sized businesses, especially professional service providers, lacked a seamless way to manage their reviews, increase referrals, and build trust online.
Determined to bridge this gap, Jonny founded Star Feedback, bringing his financial expertise, digital strategy, and passion for building reliable systems to create a fully automated reputation growth system. Recognising the power of reviews in real-world business growth, Carl joined as Co-Founder, leveraging his experience in business operations, client relations, and hands-on entrepreneurship to shape the platform’s strategy and ensure it delivers real results for professional service firms.
By early 2024, with investment backing and a clear mission, Star Feedback was born – not just as a software, but as a plug-and-play system designed to help professional service firms turn client feedback into continuous business growth.
